The Italian designer Paolo Lomazzi was born in Milan in 1936. After he had studied at Milan Polytechnic he founded in 1966, together with Jonathan De Pas and Donato D’Urbino, a practice as the designer trio “Lomazzi-De Pas- D’Urbino”. The practice became famous in 1967, with the creation of “Blow”, an inflatable armchair made of PVC, which was designed exclusively for Zanotta. The trio keep on designing unconventional seating objects, which are characterized by a radical spirit. In 1970 Lomazzi, D’Urbino e De Pas developed “Joe” for Poltronova, an armchair thought as tribute to the American baseball player Joe DiMaggio and this explains why the armchair has the shape of a baseball glove. Among the numerous collaboration with famous brand we’d like to remember those with: Artemide, Alessi, Cassina, Driade, Stilnovo, Valenti, Zerodisegno, Koizumi, Disform and many others. Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi continued to run the practice after the death of De Pas in 1991. Together they designed different design-objects, such as “Nuvola” for Zanotta (1992), “Rosa del Deserto” for Tonelli (1994) and “Nessie” for Lumina Italia (1996).
